Recently, Politiken and DR reported news about the rapidly growing supply of luxury apartments for rent in Copenhagen. According to Peter Hoyer, CEO of Scandia Housing, "This assessment of the market conditions leads to the following significant development:

In the shadow of the owner housing market crisis which began in 2007, there emerged a new range of luxury rental housing, which was actually intended for sale, but, was instead rented out.

This means that people with good incomes and wealth have joined the rental housing market. It is a striking change, which among other things, means that it is no longer a guaranteed profit to buy a home."
