Copenhagen Named World’s Best City
The trendsetting English lifestyle magazine, Monocle, recently named Copenhagen the world's top liveable city.
The latest issue of Monocle of 19 June places Copenhagen at the top of the list of the world’s best cities to live in.
The panel of judges compared factors such as international transport options, communications, crime rates and public welfare benefits. Lifestyle trends were also taken into account by the judges, including overall environmental awareness, design, architecture, as well as the city's cultural milieu.
Focus on green living
Monocle was also quite impressed by Copenhagen's many green areas and clean canals that are safe for swimming - not to mention the many beautiful people, who recycle their rubbish and use bicycles to get around town.
The Danish food culture – with its Michelin star restaurants and fantastic cafés – also helped to secure Copenhagen’s spot at the top of the list.
Copenhagen named best city for design
As something new this year, Monocle also handed out a number of special awards to the world’s best cities for business, culture, etc., and Copenhagen was proudly named best city for design.
